Funny People is a great movie. It’s got some backlash out there cause that’s what happens. Of course it’s got backlash. But I think part of it is cause people can’t stand watching a bunch of dudes get rich off of 4,000 dick jokes. That and we had to deep throat the ads for three months.

haha, yeah, I can agree with that. I guess I liked the humor cause it portrayed a variety of different people trying to be funny and, in most cases, failing. That’s the business, so it was an accurate portrayal with respect to the awkwardness of it. It was definitely more of a drama with elements of the comedy world in it. I thought the Eminem bit and really the whole bar-party scene was pretty damn hilarious at least…
Actually you are right – it was not the acting, but the editing. Sandler is Sandler. As is Rogen. You know what you are going to get. It was too long and disjointed (that’s what she said) the scene with Rogen playing the mixed CD was funny and then sweet, but as good as the melancholy was the funny was too shallow.
wow, I’m sorry, I guess it’s really a case of “to each his own”. I really thought it was Sandler’s best work since The Wedding Singer, and hell, it’s gotta be better than The Ugly Truth, right? and that shit’s gonna end up grossing more. I’d like to hear what exact things about the film and Sandler turned you off so much. I identified a lot with his character, and his inneffective dealings with his life made me really take a look and compare it with my own.

I could not disagree with you more. I just now got back from seeing it and I think I am now so angry at Sandler it could be classified as anti-semite levels. Horrible long, boring, I hate the universe for this FUCKING movie being made.
it’s such a good movie, I saw it earlier today. I’m not at all a fan of Apatow, but I think that this transcended all his previous work as a meaningful and inspiring picture. Sandler and Rogen were fantastic in a slightly more serious role and I LOVED all the comedian cameos
especially Bo Burnham, Andy Dick, Ray Romano, and Norm MacDonald.
I like to enjoy myself.
